Reported by TP Moan Simanjuntak | Translated by Anisah Mardhatilla
West Jakarta Administration will immediately record the amount of graves in Kapuk Teko Public Cemetery (TPU), Kampung Apung, RW 01, Kapuk Urban Village, Cengkareng Sub-District, West Jakarta. The recording is conducted because many graves there have been inundated for 24 years and because of that will be removed to Tegal Alur Cemetery.
We will hold socialization about this matter to the heirs whose family members buried in Kapuk Teko Cemetery
3,810 Graves in Kapuk Teko will Be Relocated
“ We will hold socialization about this matter to the heirs whose family members buried in Kapuk Teko Cemetery . But since the data about the heirs has not been recorded yet, we ask to the heirs to report to Kapuk Urban Village office to get their data recorded,” stated Head of Cengkareng Sub-District, Junaidi, Monday (4/21).
Based on West Jakarta Cemeteries Sub-Department data, there are 3,810 graves in Kapuk Teko Cemetery. After the inundated graves dried, it is expected that those graves could be identified by the heirs to ease the relocation process.
“These things need to be socialized to the heirs so everything could go well,” said Junaidi.
Meanwhile, Head of West Jakarta Cemeteries Sub-Department, Yuswardi, informed that the relocation of 3,810 graves would spend about Rp 4 billion, assuming that the relocation of one grave costs of Rp 1 million. But now, the fund has not been budgeted. It will be proposed in the 2014 Additional Budget (ABT).
“The budget has not been budgeted since this is unexpectedly. That’s why the budget will be proposed in ABT,” he explained.
